The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has organized the Conference of Development of Foster Care in the Republic of Srpska. The Conference was held in Banjaluka on 30 June 2016. The event is one of the activities from the project "Development of the foster care in the Republic of Srpska"  which has been implemented by the Ministry of  Health and Social Protection in cooperation with the UNICEF in BiH. The project has been financially supported by the European Union.

The best interest of the child, new knowledge and experience, development of the support network, education, promotion of the foster care and motivation for it have been the main characteristic of the process of development of the foster care which will become very important form of care for children in the future. During the Conference, the need to continue to train employees from the centers for social care was emphasized. In addition, the inclusion of more centers in the project, new modalities of work, supervision and promotion campaign were discussed in order to underline importance of the concept of the foster care for the society.

The representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Care, Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Justice, Public Fund for Children's Protection, Children's Home „Rada Vranjesevic" and representatives of the social welfare centers participated in the Conference.

The Ombudsman for Children, Ms Nada Grahovac, PhD, attended the Conference as well.
