International Day of Children's Rights was established in 1989 by adopting the Convention on the Rights of the Child and besides other things, its goal is to constantly remind states of the obligation they took by signing the Convention.

Since 2009 in the Republic of the Srpska, central manifestation of the International Day of the Child is held in the school whose students in the previous school year had the best results in learning and behavior. This year, according to data from the Pedagogical Institute, chosen was Medical School in Banja Luka, and it proudly accepted to be the host school..

Minister of Family, Youth and Sports, Professor Nada Tešanović in her speech once again has emphasized our obligation to do everything posible in order to enable children to exercise their rights.

Ombudsman for Children LLM Nada Grahovac warned that children's rights are obligation and responsibility of adults and by teaching children their rights, duties and responsibilities we prepare them for independent living.

Program prepared by the students of Medical School was a parade of youth, talent and energy that has delighted everyone. In the warm atmosphere hosts, through the selected poems, music and a short sketch about family issues of every schoolchild, have showed that they are excellent not only in learning and behavior, but also in extracurricular activities.

Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic Pedagogical Institute and the Ombudsman for Children traditionally organize competition of literary works and at the end of the program awards were given to students for the best literary works on topic "Internet and I, friends or not".
