Every year, during the Children's Week Ombudsman for Children of Republic of Srpska gathers together members of the Network of Young Advisers who during the year conduct series of activities in their schools and local communities in relation to the promotion and protection of children's rights.
This year current and former members of the Network gathered in Doboj, Foca and Banja Luka, with the goal of exchanging experiences and presenting the results of research on peer violence conducted in cooperation with Ombudsman for Children in 2012. Research was conducted by Young Advisors in 17 Secondary and 18 Primary Schools in the Republic and they have surveyed more than 1,200 of their peers. After analyzing collected data, the message of Young Advisors was that it is necessary to strengthen cooperation between parents, students and schools and the role of pedagogues and psychologists in schools and to make Protocol on Proceedings in Cases of Peer Bullying available among children and youth of the RS.
These meetings brought together 20 young advisers who have emphasized that their membership in the Network helped them to better understand their rights and obligations, they learned to whom they should report violations of children's rights, that they have gained skills of peer education and they actively have participated in educating their peers on various topics.
