Dear children,

Dear adults who care about children, UN Convention on children rights was adopted at UN General Assembly, November 20. 1989.and is one of the few international documents that in a very short period of time was accepted by a large number of countries. The Convention sets standards and universal principles for the protection of the child, and most importantly, for the first time it introduces children as subjects of international law and protection as persons who are entitled to their human rights. One of the primary and binding for all the principle on which the Convention is based on the best interest of the child, which means that all, individuals and institutions, in all actions concerning children, primarily take into account their best interests. Every child, just because it is a child, no matter if it is a refugee or displaced person, if it is without parents, if it lives in a city or small municipality if it is... has the right to all rights guaranteed by the Convention under the same conditions, and the society has responsibility to do everything in its power to enable accomplishment of children rights. Society must ensure and provide the conditions, in which every child will have health care, basic education, due attention and respect, in which there will not be any kind of abuse, neglect or any other form of degrading the personality of the child. The rights of children are our obligations. It is our obligation to teach the children that their rights belong to them just because they are children. It is our obligation to accept them as active participants in every procedure which concerns them. It is our obligation to create conditions and ensure that every right is enabled to each child. It is our obligation to ensure kind of protection and concern which is necessary for healthy growing up of children. Dear children and adults who care about children, we invite you to address us in all situations when you consider that the right of the child is at risk in family, school at doctors office or at any other organ or institution. By working together, children, parents and all institutions that care for children must contribute to happier growing up of children.
