The Convention on the Rights of the Child is a legally binding act and it obliges all of us to care for each and every child. It is of ultimate importance to strengthen the family and its role to respond to different needs of a child in all phases of his development in order to fulfill implementation of the children's rights. The family is the primary and natural surrounding for the child and has the strongest role in child's growth. Parallel to the strengthening of the family, the cooperation of all subjects of child protection has to be fostered and the coordination has to be planned, continuous and focused on prevention. The monitoring of the application of the Convention and legislation as well as defined policies has to be constant in order to evaluate their influence on children and their development. The development of the child is the process which determines his future. If we fail to identify the needs of the child and his right to protection in the process of growing up, the consequences for the child ad his development could be far-reaching and damaging.

In order to promote children's rights, improve the care of the society for children and strengthening responsibilities of all subjects of the protection, every first week of October traditionally becomes the „Children's Week". This year „Children's Week" is organized under the slogan „Family First".
