On the occasion of the International Day of the Child, UNICEF traditionally gives prizes and awards to journalists for their contribution to the improvement of social care for children.

Deputy Representative of UNICEF's Anne-Claire Dufay has emphasized that it is highly important to recognize the efforts of journalists to promote the rights of all children, especially of children that are marginalized.

Ombudsman for Children of Republic of Srpska LLM Nada Grahovac, Chairwoman of this year's jury, emphasized the important role of the media in the promotion of children's rights in general, in strengthening standards of reporting on children, highlighting violations of children's rights in different sectors and weaknesses of certain parts of the child protection system, and she invited on joint engagement in strengthening the child protection system.

At this year's competition 34 journalists with 80 written works has applied, and a six-member jury unanimously decided to award prizes, awards and acknowledgments.
